An Appeal of Love and Hope
To the Parishioners of St. Elisabeth Monastery in Minsk
My name is Nicolaos Cheropoulos. I write to you not as a stranger, but as a father seeking the most simple and sacred of human connections: the right to love and be loved by his children.
My daughters, Anthie and Alexandra, are part of your community. For many years now, they have been isolated and cut off from me. I have lived in a painful silence, waiting and searching for a way to let them know that their father has never stopped loving them. I know they are being prevented from reaching out to me, and that my contact information is being withheld from them by their mother. Is this normal for a loving mother?
I am not asking for judgment, nor am I asking you to take sides. I am simply asking you to be a voice of conscience and compassion. If you know my daughters, if you have guided them, spoken with them, or crossed paths with them, please help them understand that my heart is open and I am waiting. No child should be cut off from a parent who reaches out in love; no silence should be allowed to obscure the truth of a father’s devotion.
